HPD CourseOne of the foremost hypnotherapy training centres in the UK, the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training Centre (CPHT) provides both:

  • A Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD) Course for the future hypnotherapist.  We specialise in training for practice.
  • Advanced Courses and Career Professional Development for the practicing hypnotherapist.
  • The centre holds offices in Bristol and Plymouth and is fully accredited as a bona fide hypnosis and hypnotherapy training school by the following bodies:

    David Newton : Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy course lecturer & organiser The organiser and course lecturer of CPHT is David Newton, Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist, DHP FAPHP MNCH MNCP SHS SQHP Sup Hyp.

    David lectures at both Bristol and Plymouth locations. He is the senior practitioner of The Clifton Practice which he co-founded in 1995 and which has developed into a leading multi-discipline clinic, with over twenty practitioners and doctors in residence. David Newton is an accredited supervisor and a Fellow of the Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy.

    Teaching in Plymouth is shared by David Newton and Matthew Cahill. Matthew Cahill is an experienced practitioner and founder of the Observatory Practice. Matthew trained at CPHT and has lectured in Bristol for several years.

    Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD) Course
    The HPD Course is a 10 month course designed to enable you to go successfully and competently into private practice, safe in the knowledge that you have the support of the principals and staff of the Clifton Practice if at any time you need professional help or advice.  Remember, we specialise in producing graduates who are successful as pracitioners both for part-time and full-time careers.  It is probable that we hve the best record for this in the country.

    While the course structure is based predominantly on the work and experience of David Newton, it has the enormous advantage of including the valued writings of other experienced practitioners. It is predominantly NLP, CBT and SFBT orientated.

    Upon graduation, the professional letters that you will be entitled to use after your name are:
    DHP. HPD. LHS. LNCP. MNCH (Lic.) LAPHP. GQHP.

    Advanced Courses and Career Professional Development
    At the Clifton Practice we run a comprehensive CPD programme to meet the requirements of graduates and the national Bodies.

    Our Advanced Courses, are externally verified by NCFE, a Government recognised awarding body, and assigned Level 4 equivalence on the National Qualification Framework (NQF).

    Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH) - Practitioner list expanding...

    Following the creation of the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH), more and more therapists are joining across the UK; the current Registry runs to over 100 members! 

    The aim of the Association is to inform the general public about Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and its associated benefits, as well as to provide information and advice to qualified hypnotherapists and those who are currently training.

    HPD gets Open University Approved Credit rating
    The Open University has considered the Education and Training Programme from the National Council for Hypnotherapy and assigned Open University Credits for Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD)as follows :

    45 points at Undergraduate Level 1 (FHEQ Level 4/SCQF Level 7)

    This provides an endorsement of the quality, amount and level of the learning within the framework for Higher education Qualifications in England, Wales and Northern Ireland (FHEQ) and credits for the course.

    Students receive their award from the NCH, and in addition can download a certificate confirming the credit award from the OU website at: www.open.ac.uk/credit-rating.

     

     

    Hypnotherapy Accreditation – The National Qualifications Framework (NQF)
    The Clifton Practice has been a leader in promoting the proper accreditation of Hypnotherapy within the National Qualifications Framework. The Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD) is jointly accredited by NCFE and NCH. NCFE is an awarding body which complies with the criteria of the recognition process of the regulatory authorities including the Department of education. HPD is designated as having the NQF equivalence of level IV.

    In 2008 CPHT was granted independent accreditation by NCFE enabling further courses to be fully accredited, specific areas in CBT, SFBT and NLP, important to Career Professional Development. Our CBT skills course is designated NQF equivalence Level IV (see advanced courses). NQF is currently being replaced by the qualification and Credit framework QCF (this will not affect our accreditation process).
