The aim of this Workshop is to give therapists the tools and knowledge to be confident in their record keeping and to have the ability to do their own tax return. This is a very valuable course at an important time within the accounting world.
Course Content
This CPD will cover:
- How, why and when to register as self employed?
- What records to keep?
- What is tax deductible and what does that even mean?
- Do I need a business bank account?
- Do I need an accountant?
- What do I do with my receipts?
- Clients pay cash – should I declare it?
- How to fill in a Tax Return?
- Overview of a simple Business Plan and how it can help you develop your business
- Any other questions?
- From April 2026 HMRC will be phasing out Tax Returns for some individuals and replacing them with Quarterly Assessments online. This CPD will incorporate an overview of those changes.

Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist
Jennifer became self employed in 1999 doing book-keeping for a few businesses at home, within 3 years she had a city centre office in Edinburgh, with 13 employees. She returned to Belfast in 2013 and trained with BF1 in 2017. She is the owner of The Number House and Solution Hypnotherapy NI and is also an assistant lecturer with CPHT Belfast. Any free time she has is spent walking her two crazy dogs, growing veg and cycling.
