Alex Brounger
Senior Lecturer

Following a successful career in Learning & Development, Alex Brounger trained as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist with David Newton at CPHT Bristol. He became a full-time Clinical Hypnotherapist in May 2012 and has run two thriving practices in Stroud and Cirencester, Gloucestershire, ever since.

Wanting to help others enjoy the career he has enjoyed so much, Alex became a Hypnotherapy Supervisor in 2015 and now supervises hypnotherapists across the world. This desire to support others in their careers also led him to serve as CEO of the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH) between 2016 and 2018, and to set up and run CPHT Belfast from 2016 to 2023.

Alex began lecturing for CPHT Edinburgh in 2018, adding CPHT Glasgow in 2019, and has been teaching both schools ever since. He also headed up CPHT’s Level 5 qualifications from 2019 to 2025, overseeing the Hypnotherapy Supervisor’s Course and the Advanced Hypnotherapy Diploma (AHD), before stepping back to focus on his growing client work. In 2025, he was made an AfSFH Fellow, an honour reserved for a small number of practitioners recognised for outstanding contribution to the field.

Outside the classroom and clinic, Alex is a regular at the gym, can usually be found walking his dog Chester, and values time spent with his wife and their two children.
