Once you have successfully completed the Hypnotherapy Diploma Course and have been awarded both your Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (DSFH) and submitted your portfolio of evidence for the Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma (HPD) you can register to study for the Advanced Hypnotherapy Diploma (AHD). At present the Advanced Hypnotherapy Diploma (AHD) is the highest award in Hypnotherapy available in the UK.
Whilst the Hypnotherapy Diploma Training Course equips you to deal with most conditions or sets of symptoms that clients will potentially enquire about, the Advanced Hypnotherapy Diploma broadens and deepens your knowledge, builds confidence and enables participants to speak more confidently with clients on a range of subject areas. It is the next natural step in your professional development.
When you successfully pass the Advanced Hypnotherapy Diploma (AHD) you will be awarded a certificate of achievement by the NCFE. The Advanced Hypnotherapy Diploma has been accredited by the NCFE as having measurable learning outcomes that have been benchmarked at Level 5 (using Ofqual’s Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) level descriptors). It encourages a more profound learning experience than attending Continual Professional Development (CPD) courses. It demonstrates to potential clients that a therapist has a deep commitment to ongoing learning and being the best hypnotherapist they can be.
All tutor-led learning for the Advanced Hypnotherapy Diploma is via live online video conferencing adding even greater flexibility.
NCFE Level 5 accreditation
Recently NCFE and similar accrediting organisations were told by Ofqual that the highest customised award they were able to authorise was a Level 4 award. Any higher award had to be sanctioned by a higher authority. It is for this reason that Level 5 awards in our area of expertise are a rarity. Our AHD submission for a Level 5 award was for us a long and involved process. It was achieved for various reasons but the main contributing factors were :
- The entry level is the level 4 Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma
- The CV’s and experience of the contributing lecturers is in our opinion, and the opinion of the accrediting authorities, of exemplary standards.
- The AHD diploma course satisfies the general principles of a “Foundation Degree” ie the learner is in practice as well as Learning academically
- A bona fide research programme forms an integral part of the award.
This is an award that will put you in a different league to most of our profession from a qualification perspective. Even studying for the AHD should be worthy of adding to your CV.

Students acquire knowledge by participating in the CPHT CPDs which correspond to the above fields of expertise. To earn the AHD, they must complete these CPDs and submit a portfolio. Each required CPD provides evidence aligned with the Learning Outcomes. Students have a four-year timeframe to complete all CPDs and submit their portfolio.

Course Cost & Dates
The current fee for the AHD is £595.00 to cover the costs of registration and administration.
This fee can be paid via bank transfer or by instalments via Standing Order : 6 monthly payments of £99.17 or 12 monthly instalments of £49.58.
The usual fees for attending the CPD modules will apply.
Next Course Dates
The AHD is an ongoing course which can be applied for and commenced at any time. It must be completed i.e. portfolio submitted for all CPD Modules, over a maximum period of four years after registration.
Entry Requirements
The AHD Course is open to all CPHT Graduates who hold the DSFH and HPD and are not affiliated to a non-CPHT Hypnotherapy school.
