How Long To Train To Become A Hypnotherapist?

One of the questions we often get asked from potential students who are interested in our hypnotherapy training course is ‘How long will it be until I can start practising as a hypnotherapist’.

The answer is – fairly quickly!  Firstly, you can relax, you are in good hands here. Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training (CPHT) has been in operation for over 30 years, and we have trained a lot of Solution-Focused Hypnotherapists in that time! We have over 30 UK school locations up and down the country.

Hypnotherapy Training senior lecturers

Jane and I (Debbie) are your senior lecturers, and we remember how it was when we started training to become solution-focused hypnotherapists. We also trained at CPHT and we are both now full-time Solution-Focused Hypnotherapists with our own busy practices. We love what we do because it’s so positive and helpful to clients. We also love having a captive audience in our teaching to encourage new practitioners in their new careers.

Back to the Question…

So let’s get back to the question… we realise you are keen to get going, and also to recuperate the training costs. The good news is that you can start to practice as a student whilst you are training! In fact, from month 1, you will be able to confidently practice relaxation on the couch with family and friends as a student practitioner. By the end of month 3, you will be helping people with stress and mild to moderate anxiety.

Each module builds more knowledge that you can practice outside the teaching room. So, as we add weight management or phobias, helping people with depression, OCD, PTSD or smoking cessation, you will be able to go and practice that with your appreciative volunteers. You will also learn psychotherapy skills – you will soon see that it’s not all about what happens on the couch. No swinging watches or old-fashioned stage induction tricks here. Instead, it’s modern, up-to-date, research & evidence-based psychology tools that we use and you will learn all this in our courses.

Hypnotherapy supervision and support

We provide individual support as needed between weekends and on teaching weekends.  After month 8, and subject to having completed key tasks and approved by your tutors you can start to charge half price to your clients as a student practitioner. Your portfolio is assessed independently by the NCH (National Council for Hypnotherapy) ensuring the quality gold standard of the prestigious NCFE Level 4 HPD (Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma). You will also be awarded the DSFH (Diploma for Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy).

What this means is, by the time you complete the course, 10 months later, you will have had lots of practice. You will have seen the results working with your volunteers, and you may have already started to get word-of-mouth referrals. So, basically, you can be up and running by the time the course is completed. We provide ongoing support after you graduate with individual supervision and continuing professional development courses to support your growth as a practitioner.

We even show you how to measure outcomes with your clients which is great to build confidence, for you and your clients.
