Jane worked in the Pharmaceutical industry for almost 30 years helping to bring new drugs to the market and, during that time, came to the conclusion that while medication was helpful and sometimes vital for many conditions, for other conditions the available treatments were inadequate and often had unwanted side-effects.  For example, conditions such as anxiety, depression and stress-related illnesses were on the increase despite the vast array of drugs available for prescription.

Jane first became interested in hypnotherapy quite a number of years ago when she worked as a Research Assistant for Prof Peter Whorwell at Withington Hospital, South Manchester and saw what an amazing therapeutic tool hypnotherapy could be. Prof Whorwell pioneered the use of hypnotherapy for patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome and results produced by his research team led to hypnotherapy being accepted by NICE as an approved treatment for this condition.

In 2014, with the family grown up, Jane felt it was the right time to follow that interest and train to become a hypnotherapist herself. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy in particular appealed due to its basis in science and the focus on the way the brain can create new pathways to facilitate new ways of thinking. Research into neuroscience continues to support the theory behind the use of hypnotherapy as a way of changing the brain and moving clients forward in their lives.

Jane joined a course in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, run by the prestigious Clifton Practice in Manchester, and became qualified as a Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist achieving the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma.  Jane now works from her home-based therapy room in Heaton Moor, Stockport and is passionate about Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, taking a huge amount of satisfaction in helping her clients move towards their preferred future.

The Clifton Practice continues to follow all the recent research on neuroscience and provides exceptional courses for the Continuous Professional Development of graduates, which Jane regularly attends in order to keep abreast of the newest information. Jane has also qualified as a Solution Focused Supervisor, enabling her to take on other therapists for training, mentoring and support.
