    Welcome to CPHT Bristol

    CPHT Bristol has been at the heart of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy since its inception.

    The very first course was held here in 2002, and the school has continued to thrive ever since. As the birthplace of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, the foundations were laid in 1995 when David Newton and his wife Stefanie opened The Clifton Practice in Bristol. Today, the practice and CPHT Bristol are run by Oliver Newton, one of David’s sons, ensuring the family’s legacy and passion for hypnotherapy continues.

    The success of CPHT Bristol paved the way for the establishment of 25 fantastic CPHT locations across the UK, Scotland, and Ireland, making high-quality training in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy accessible to aspiring practitioners nationwide.

    The Clifton Practice offers a welcoming and professional environment for students. Easily accessible by public transport and with nearby parking options, the location is both convenient and enriching. The practice is fully equipped, with modern facilities, large classroom and dedicated therapy rooms for practical learning.

    Really enjoyable experience. Feeling supported from start to finish and beyond. The admin team answer questions promptly and no question is ever a daft question. Lecturers make the learning manageable and the modules build up gradually and clearly. The weeks don't overwhelm you.     Generally I loved coming to class every month and didn’t really want it to end, I felt I could have learned more. Generally the tutors were great apart from the sometimes slow responses to questions out of the classroom. I enjoyed the discipline too, being on time and working hard.

    Having scoured the UK for the right course that offered the best teaching reviews and professional qualification, it was obvious that cpht offered the best course available. As a mature student it was challenging to absorb so much information and with Sian and Brian's guidance and open attitude I thoroughly enjoyed the learning process.     Sian runs The Youth Fairy, a franchise of Solution Focused Hypnotherapists that help children and teens who are struggling with anxiety, stress, anger and low confidence. Prior to being a therapist and lecturer at CPHT, she was a qualified teacher with 12 years experience in the class room and a head of year. Sian brings this knowledge to the training here at CPHT to make sure that we provide you with the best learning experience possible.

    Lydia studied Psychology at the University of Surrey, graduating in 2005, and subsequently secured a number of Assistant Psychologist roles, working alongside Educational and Clinical Psychologists across Kent and Sussex. During this period she discovered solution focused hypnotherapy, graduating from CPHT Brighton in 2020 and opening her therapy business, Stepping Stones Practice, that same year.

    Based on the latest research and neuroscience, CPHT’s accredited Hypnotherapy Diploma Course™ will equip you to become an effective and business-ready solution focused Hypnotherapist. Whether you have prior experience as a helping professional or are looking to completely change your career, you can graduate with all the necessary skills and knowledge you need to begin your career immediately. 

    Successful completion of the course leads to the Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (DSFH). In addition, successful completion of your accompanying portfolio leads to the Level 4 NCFE accredited Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma (HPD). 

    Your diploma level hypnotherapy training is made up of 10 modules delivered one weekend a month, over 10 months. This allows you time to practice yours skills and build your confidence between modules. It also means you can fit your training around your life and current commitments.

    I am delighted to be able to write a review for the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training (CPHT Manchester), Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy training course. I completed the CPHT Manchester, Diploma in 'Solution Focused Hypnotherapy' training, in 2022. I can whole heartedly recommend this hypnotherapy diploma for many reasons. The trainers - Jane and Debbie - are experienced, supportive, approachable, and they make the learning doable and enjoyable. They are also very accessible and responsive between training dates, if we have queries and / or client matters to discuss. There have also been several guest trainers, who have added a lot of value. The course is very focused on training students to become competent and confident professional Solution Focused Hypnotherapists, and it definitely achieves its aims: from month 3, we practised our skills with friends, family and, eventually, clients, and receiving supervision for our clinical work, and from month 7, we were able to charge clients 'student rate' for our therapy. I really appreciate the Solution Focussed nature of the therapy that we are training in: concentrating on what is going well for clients and what they want to achieve; helping them to move themselves, incrementally, towards their preferred lives, rather than dwelling on problems and talking about the past. Sure, talking about the past and problems, has a role, at times, in other therapies, but I have been really impressed with the outcomes that this therapy is having for clients, and I (and all of my student colleagues) have some great testimonials to demonstrate this. So, if you are looking to train to be a professional Hypnotherapist, I would definitely recommend CPHT Manchester, and this Solution Focused Hypnotherapy training.

    If you want to train as a solution-focused hypnotherapist and psychotherapist, don't look any further! Hugely recommend this course with CPHT London and Brian and Sian. The course is practical, face to face, and helps you learn through hands-on practice as well as lectures too. Brian and Sian are brilliant, both running really successful hypnotherapy business's, supportive, and bring a sense of humour to sessions too. Each module is really thorough. The course also guides you on setting up your own practice and how to set up your business. Our cohort all achieved about 200 client hours, and the group was incredibly supportive and fun. Excited to start setting up my practice properly soon. Huge thanks to Sian and Brian - solid 5 stars!

    I started Debbie's course in March 2025. I had not worked or studied for 10 years so, I was a bit apprehensive. Debbie put me at ease immediately. She has such a calm manner and and her experience shines through in her teaching. She has also been a great support to me with any problems I had, both personal and professional. We had some good laughs too, and I know I've made lifelong friends on this course. I'm excited to start my new journey as a hypnotherapist and psychologist because I feel fully equipped with the experience and knowledge I have gained through her teaching.     As a working GP I didnt really know what to expect. I know it works for smoking cessation and I went primarily to learn this and discovered a whole new way of helping people with stress anxiety poor sleep etc etc . Lots of evidence based studies citing efficacy. It was hard work fitting in the learning as you start seeing volunteer clients about month 2-3 . Lots of help given and instruction on Marketing etc on how to set up your own business will qualify in December 2025 and looking forward to starting to see my own paid clients privately . Highly recommend

    I have loved my training with CPHT Manchester! The course is very comprehensive, lots of theory, but also lots of practical time to embed hypnotherapy techniques too. Over the duration of the course I have learned new skills, and I am confident to go forwards into my own private practice.     Completing the Diploma in Hypnotherapy with CPHT Manchester has been a transformative 10-month journey. From the outset I was immersed in both the theory and practise of Solution Focussed Hypnotherapy with Debbie Daltrey and Linda McEnaney an experienced and caring team of supervisors. This course gave me the skills to empower clients to make meaningful change while retaining their agency. It impresses me that I was already seeing real positive results in clients, well before qualifying, - Changes in mindsets, reductions in stress levels and genuine breakthroughs in unimaginable areas as well as smoke cessation and phobic response. The course has also given me the acumen to set up and market my own practise with confidence. The tangible progress has given me confidence and real pride. I now feel ready and equipped not only to support others in their transformation but to launch a business grounded in authenticity and proven methods.     I had such an incredible experience with this course! The trainers were extremely supportive throughout — you can tell they genuinely care about your learning and progress. The course itself is intensive, but the balance between practical application and theory (including the neuroscience behind it) is absolutely spot on. Not only does it prepare you to become a confident practitioner, but it also encourages you to reflect on and prioritise your own mental health, which I found so valuable.     At the very last moment, in September 2024, I made the decision to commence my training in the October to become a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist with CPHT Hampshire. I am so incredibly glad and proud that I did. I was exploring an alternative path of qualifying as a counsellor, but it was the solution-focused approach at CPHT, backed by neuroscience, that really caught my attention. I now know, one year on, having experienced it with my clients, that hypnosis is the difference that makes the difference. Professionally, it is incredibly inspiring and satisfying to see the positive changes that Solution Focused Hypnotherapy delivers. My first decade of my working life was as an Army officer and in the Foreign Office; the second decade was spent in education teaching Latin; this third decade as a solution-focused hypnotherapist promises to continue my life-long intention to be of service and of use to my fellow humans. I count myself incredibly lucky to have come across CPHT who are, I’ve no doubt, the most professional and rigorous training provider in this therapeutic industry. It mattered to me that I trained and qualified with the best, and I hold my tutors and every member of my now-qualified cohort in the highest esteem. Their mutual encouragement and support have meant everything. And I have been blown away by their experiences with their clients as much as my own, so my confidence and faith in this therapeutic modality could not be higher.     I completed the Diploma in Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy through CPHT Hampshire, and can honestly say, I LOVED every minute of it! A highly knowledgeable and professional team of course leaders (Holly, Lydia, and Lisa), who really care about your progression as a student and are experts when it comes to delivering the course material. The content (supported by handouts, demonstration videos, and recommended reading) is well-designed, thorough, and up to date with the most recent neuroscience research. The course includes practical exercises with peers, which are a lot of fun, and you meet so many lovely people in the process. You are also encouraged and supported to work with clients while you are training, which boosts your confidence and prepares you to launch your own practice once qualified.     It's very hard to write a compact review for something that has been so life changing, but 10 months on this course has not only taught me so much but made me a completely different person, for the better I hasten to add. I had had an interest in hypnotherapy for sometime and had looked at various courses but this one was the one I finally went with and I am so glad that I did. Brian and Lydia are fantastic teachers and make everything come together in such a way that learning is fascinating and, dare I say it, fun. You were guided every step of the way, not only in how to practice solution based hypnotherapy but also in how to run a business like this, no question was stupid, no step to taxing and you are practising almost from the word go. Having got my diploma, not bad for a kid who left school 43 years ago without an O level, I now feel super confident and excited to move forward with my business. A great course that I can't recommend highly enough.

    Bristol Cpht is brilliant. I was made so welcome. The course was great. I miss it now I'm trained. Family run, lovely facility in Clifton. Very supportive and will teach you all you need to know, every facet of the job and with ongoing professional development. Students and staff were really great. Learning was a lot of fun.     Signing up for the CPHT Solution Focused Hypnotherapy has been personally and professionally the best thing I have done. On a personal level, it has completely changed the way I think and through doing this course I have managed to get my health anxiety under control and am a calmer and more confident person as a direct result of doing this course. It has been life changing. On a professional level it has been incredible, learning a whole new skill, along with 200 client hours under my belt, so I finish feeling confident and ready to go out to begin my business now. Seeing client results and progress has been incredible and I have been blown away by the positive impact SFH has had on client lives as well as my own. I really feel that I am making a difference and this feels so good. Holly and Brian are brilliant- their teaching is excellent and they are so generous with their wisdom and knowledge. The weekends in college were fantastic- they were informative, sometimes challenging (great to get out of our comfort zone!) but always fun- we had so many laughs along the way. The course content is very comprehensive, so much information and very in depth, really interesting and always relevant. It is hard and a lot of work, more than I realised when I signed up, however, it was 100% worth the effort to come out the other end as a fully qualified Solution Focused Hypnotherapist!     Before I started this Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) course, I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to delve further into psychotherapy or counselling, but when I heard first hand reports of how SFH gave people with high anxiety, the ability to not only manage but thrive, I had to explore it further. I was soooo glad that I found the CPHT Brighton course. Right from the start, you are supported and guided one incremental step at a time. They practice what they preach so beautifully! Brian and Lydia are fantastic tutors and supervisors: the lessons were always fascinating, sometimes poignant, sometimes funny, always relevant – you’re engaged from the moment you sit down, through teaching, group discussions, skills practice. Brian and Lydia both clearly love what they do, and teach with passion, humour and generosity. It was a fantastic journey with like-minded classmates from all walks of life, all exploring our own minds as well as supporting clients through some of the most inspiring life-changes right from the start of the course. Now, at the end of the course, I’m sad it’s over but am so excited about how well CPHT have prepared us to start this next chapter of building a business.

    I highly recommend training in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy through CPHT Brighton. All the senior lecturers are very skilled, knowledgeable, supportive, and encouraging. The course structure also has a clever way of layering your learning so when you come to the end you realise how much you have learnt and how many practical skills and techniques you have picked up along the way too. I have worked in mental health services for many years and learned different therapeutic techniques etc but hadn’t ever come across something that works so well for people with so many different presenting difficulties before this. It was also wonderful to be able to help lots of volunteer clients from the outset of the training and I gained so much more confidence in myself and the approach from this. I also love how it so effectively combines neuroscience with an effective and gentle psychotherapeutic approach. The training weekends were also very enjoyable and set in a lovely venue.

    I absolutely recommend training through CPHT. The course content has been brilliant and the leaning I have taken away has been invaluable. I have really enjoyed my journey through training with CPHT and feel that not only has it helped me to train as a professional therapist, but has also helped me become a better version of myself.

    This course has genuinely been life-changing. Brian and Sian are fantastic lecturers and their passion, knowledge, and experience really come across in every module. The teaching is clear, supportive, and engaging, and I always felt inspired and encouraged throughout. If you're thinking about training in hypnotherapy, I couldn’t recommend it more!

    If you are considering a hypnotherapy course - do this course! The reviews are all 5 stars for a reason - the course was way beyond what I had hoped for, Sian and Brian are fantastic tutors and I learnt so much about myself. I'm usually very self-conscious and lacking in confidence when attending courses but I genuinely enjoyed our training weekends, met some great people, and I now have a passion for all things neuroscience!

    What can I say? I'm still recovering from one of the best learning experiences of my life. The teaching methods and support was invaluable. I pushed myself to new levels and my comfort zone was tested on many occasion. All to which I managed to accomplish. I look forward to my new career.
