Learn from people who do the job

Your senior lecturers are Ali Hollands Hook and Jen Higgins, experienced practising hypnotherapists, clinical supervisors and educators.

Between them, they bring more than two decades of clinical hypnotherapy experience to the classroom. That means your training is grounded in what happens in therapeutic practice, from working effectively with clients to navigating the realities of building and running your own hypnotherapy business.

You’ll learn the theory and you’ll also learn how to use it.

And because developing as a therapist doesn’t just happen during ten weekends alone, you’ll have support between modules too. Regular progress check-ins, one-to-one guidance when you need it and the support of your fellow student hypnotherapists all form part of the experience. The Clifton Practice is a vibrant community of practicing hypnotherapists that you join as soon as your training begins.

We want you to feel that you are becoming a therapist throughout the course, so that you can be business ready when you graduate.

A 10-month accredited hypnotherapy course

Your face-to-face hypnotherapy training takes place over 10 months, with one training weekend each month.

The monthly format gives you time to absorb what you have learned, practise your developing skills and gain experience between modules, while still making the course possible to fit around work, family and your existing commitments.

Successful completion of the training leads to:

Level 4 Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma (HPD)
Level 4 Clifton Practice Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (CPSFH)

Throughout the course you’ll explore neuroscience, psychotherapy, hypnosis and Solution Focused therapeutic techniques alongside hands-on clinical practice.

You’ll also learn about the practical side of working for yourself. From understanding how to establish your practice to developing the confidence to attract and work with clients, business development is built into the training rather than left until after you qualify.

Face-to-face hypnotherapy training in Merseyside

CPHT Liverpool training is held at the Village Hotel Liverpool in Whiston, Merseyside.

The location is particularly convenient for students travelling from Liverpool, Knowsley, St Helens and the wider Merseyside area, with straightforward access from the M62 and M57. It also provides an accessible Liverpool training option for students travelling from Wirral and Warrington.

The venue offers ample free parking, an on-site restaurant and comfortable spaces where you can learn, take a break and get to know the people you’ll be training alongside.

The Village Hotel Liverpool is around eight miles from Liverpool city centre and just over a mile from Whiston railway station, making it accessible whether you are travelling by car or public transport.

Really enjoyable experience. Feeling supported from start to finish and beyond. The admin team answer questions promptly and no question is ever a daft question. Whether you have prior experience as a helping professional or are looking to completely change your career, you can graduate with all the necessary skills and knowledge you need to begin your career immediately.

Successful completion of the course leads to the Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (DSFH). In addition, successful completion of your accompanying portfolio leads to the Level 4 NCFE accredited Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma (HPD).

Your diploma level hypnotherapy training is made up of 10 modules delivered one weekend a month, over 10 months. This allows you time to practice yours skills and build your confidence between modules. It also means you can fit your training around your life and current commitments.

I am delighted to be able to write a review for the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training (CPHT Manchester), Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy training course. I completed the CPHT Manchester, Diploma in 'Solution Focused Hypnotherapy' training, in 2022. I can whole heartedly recommend this hypnotherapy diploma for many reasons. The trainers - Jane and Debbie - are experienced, supportive, approachable, and they make the learning doable and enjoyable. They are also very accessible and responsive between training dates, if we have queries and / or client matters to discuss. There have also been several guest trainers, who have added a lot of value. The course is very focused on training students to become competent and confident professional Solution Focused Hypnotherapists, and it definitely achieves its aims: from month 3, we practised our skills with friends, family and, eventually, clients, and receiving supervision for our clinical work, and from month 7, we were able to charge clients 'student rate' for our therapy. I really appreciate the Solution Focussed nature of the therapy that we are training in: concentrating on what is going well for clients and what they want to achieve; helping them to move themselves, incrementally, towards their preferred lives, rather than dwelling on problems and talking about the past. Sure, talking about the past and problems, has a role, at times, in other therapies, but I have been really impressed with the outcomes that this therapy is having for clients, and I (and all of my student colleagues) have some great testimonials to demonstrate this. So, if you are looking to train to be a professional Hypnotherapist, I would definitely recommend CPHT Manchester, and this Solution Focused Hypnotherapy training.

If you want to train as a solution-focused hypnotherapist and psychotherapist, don't look any further! Hugely recommend this course with CPHT London and Brian and Sian. The course is practical, face to face, and helps you learn through hands-on practice as well as lectures too. Brian and Sian are brilliant, both running really successful hypnotherapy business's, supportive, and bring a sense of humour to sessions too. Each module is really thorough. The course also guides you on setting up your own practice and how to set up your business. Our cohort all achieved about 200 client hours, and the group was incredibly supportive and fun. I started Debbie's course in March 2025. I had not worked or studied for 10 years so, I was a bit apprehensive. Debbie put me at ease immediately. As a working GP I didnt really know what to expect. I know it works for smoking cessation and I went primarily to learn this and discovered a whole new way of helping people with stress anxiety poor sleep etc etc . Lots of evidence based studies citing efficacy. It was hard work fitting in the learning as you start seeing volunteer clients about month 2-3 . Lots of help given and instruction on Marketing etc on how to set up your own business will qualify in December 2025 and looking forward to starting to see my own paid clients privately . Highly recommend

Completing the Diploma in Hypnotherapy with CPHT Manchester has been a transformative 10-month journey. From the outset I was immersed in both the theory and practise of Solution Focussed Hypnotherapy with Debbie Daltrey and Linda McEnaney an experienced and caring team of supervisors. This course gave me the skills to empower clients to make meaningful change while retaining their agency. At the very last moment, in September 2024, I made the decision to commence my training in the October to become a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist with CPHT Hampshire. I am so incredibly glad and proud that I did. I was exploring an alternative path of qualifying as a counsellor, but it was the solution-focused approach at CPHT, backed by neuroscience, that really caught my attention. I now know, one year on, having experienced it with my clients, that hypnosis is the difference that makes the difference. I completed the Diploma in Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy through CPHT Hampshire, and can honestly say, I LOVED every minute of it! A highly knowledgeable and professional team of course leaders (Holly, Lydia, and Lisa), who really care about your progression as a student and are experts when it comes to delivering the course material. The content (supported by handouts, demonstration videos, and recommended reading) is well-designed, thorough, and up to date with the most recent neuroscience research. I had had an interest in hypnotherapy for sometime and had looked at various courses but this one was the one I finally went with and I am so glad that I did. Brian and Lydia are fantastic teachers and make everything come together in such a way that learning is fascinating and, dare I say it, fun. You were guided every step of the way, not only in how to practice solution based hypnotherapy but also in how to run a business like this, no question was stupid, no step to taxing and you are practising almost from the word go. Having got my diploma, not bad for a kid who left school 43 years ago without an O level, I now feel super confident and excited to move forward with my business. A great course that I can't recommend highly enough.

Bristol Cpht is brilliant. I was made so welcome. The course was great. I miss it now I'm trained. Family run, lovely facility in Clifton. Very supportive and will teach you all you need to know, every facet of the job and with ongoing professional development. Students and staff were really great. Learning was a lot of fun. Signing up for the CPHT Solution Focused Hypnotherapy has been personally and professionally the best thing I have done. On a personal level, it has completely changed the way I think and through doing this course I have managed to get my health anxiety under control and am a calmer and more confident person as a direct result of doing this course. It has been life changing. On a professional level it has been incredible, learning a whole new skill, along with 200 client hours under my belt, so I finish feeling confident and ready to go out to begin my business now. Seeing client results and progress has been incredible and I have been blown away by the positive impact SFH has had on client lives as well as my own. I really feel that I am making a difference and this feels so good. Holly and Brian are brilliant- their teaching is excellent and they are so generous with their wisdom and knowledge. The weekends in college were fantastic- they were informative, sometimes challenging (great to get out of our comfort zone!) but always fun- we had so many laughs along the way. The course content is very comprehensive, so much information and very in depth, really interesting and always relevant. It is hard and a lot of work, more than I realised when I signed up, however, it was 100% worth the effort to come out the other end as a fully qualified Solution Focused Hypnotherapist! Before I started this Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) course, I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to delve further into psychotherapy or counselling, but when I heard first hand reports of how SFH gave people with high anxiety, the ability to not only manage but thrive, I had to explore it further. I was soooo glad that I found the CPHT Brighton course. Right from the start, you are supported and guided one incremental step at a time. They practice what they preach so beautifully! Brian and Lydia are fantastic tutors and supervisors: the lessons were always fascinating, sometimes poignant, sometimes funny, always relevant – you’re engaged from the moment you sit down, through teaching, group discussions, skills practice. Brian and Lydia both clearly love what they do, and teach with passion, humour and generosity. It was a fantastic journey with like-minded classmates from all walks of life, all exploring our own minds as well as supporting clients through some of the most inspiring life-changes right from the start of the course. Now, at the end of the course, I’m sad it’s over but am so excited about how well CPHT have prepared us to start this next chapter of building a business.

I highly recommend training in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy through CPHT Brighton. All the senior lecturers are very skilled, knowledgeable, supportive, and encouraging. The course structure also has a clever way of layering your learning so when you come to the end you realise how much you have learnt and how many practical skills and techniques you have picked up along the way too. I have worked in mental health services for many years and learned different therapeutic techniques etc but hadn’t ever come across something that works so well for people with so many different presenting difficulties before this. It was also wonderful to be able to help lots of volunteer clients from the outset of the training and I gained so much more confidence in myself and the approach from this. I also love how it so effectively combines neuroscience with an effective and gentle psychotherapeutic approach. The training weekends were also very enjoyable and set in a lovely venue.

If you are considering a hypnotherapy course - do this course! The reviews are all 5 stars for a reason - the course was way beyond what I had hoped for, Sian and Brian are fantastic tutors and I learnt so much about myself. I'm usually very self-conscious and lacking in confidence when attending courses but I genuinely enjoyed our training weekends, met some great people, and I now have a passion for all things neuroscience!
