Welcome to CPHT Bristol

CPHT Bristol has been at the heart of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy since its inception.

The very first course was held here in 2002, and the school has continued to thrive ever since. As the birthplace of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, the foundations were laid in 1995 when David Newton and his wife Stefanie opened The Clifton Practice in Bristol. Today, the practice and CPHT Bristol are run by Oliver Newton, one of David’s sons, ensuring the family’s legacy and passion for hypnotherapy continues.

The success of CPHT Bristol paved the way for the establishment of 25 fantastic CPHT locations across the UK, Scotland, and Ireland, making high-quality training in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy accessible to aspiring practitioners nationwide.

The Clifton Practice offers a welcoming and professional environment for students. Sian Noon

Senior Lecturer

Sian runs The Youth Fairy, a franchise of Solution Focused Hypnotherapists that help children and teens who are struggling with anxiety, stress, anger and low confidence. Prior to being a therapist and lecturer at CPHT, she was a qualified teacher with 12 years experience in the class room and a head of year. Sian brings this knowledge to the training here at CPHT to make sure that we provide you with the best learning experience possible.

Jane Fox

Senior Lecturer

Jane trained in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy in 2014, after 30 years working in Clinical Research the Pharmaceutical Industry. She went on to become a Senior Lecturer at CPHT Manchester in 2019. She subsequently qualified as a Supervisor, and set up CPHT Sheffield in 2019 and completed the Advanced Hypnotherapy Diploma in 2022. Jane has a full-time hypnotherapy practice in Stockport and supervises around 20 fellow hypnotherapists. She also presents courses for CPHT in Psychoneuroimmunology, Ethics and Professional Standards and The Gut-Brain- Axis.

Alex Brounger

Senior Lecturer

Following a successful career in Learning & Development Alex Brounger became a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist in 2011. He trained with David Newton at CPHT Bristol and became a full-time Clinical Hypnotherapist in May 2012. He has been running two busy practices in Stroud and Cirencester, in Gloucestershire, ever since. Wanting to help other people enjoy the career he has enjoyed so much Alex became a Hypnotherapy Supervisor in 2015 and is now Supervisor for Hypnotherapists across the world. This desire to support others in their careers also led him to accept the role of CEO of the AfSFH between 2016 and 2018.

Based on the latest research and neuroscience, CPHT’s accredited Hypnotherapy Diploma Course™ will equip you to become an effective and business-ready solution focused Hypnotherapist. Whether you have prior experience as a helping professional or are looking to completely change your career, you can graduate with all the necessary skills and knowledge you need to begin your career immediately.

Successful completion of the course leads to the Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (DSFH). In addition, successful completion of your accompanying portfolio leads to the Level 4 NCFE accredited Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma (HPD).

Your diploma level hypnotherapy training is made up of 10 modules delivered one weekend a month, over 10 months. This allows you time to practice yours skills and build your confidence between modules. It also means you can fit your training around your life and current commitments.

At the very last moment, in September 2024, I made the decision to commence my training in the October to become a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist with CPHT Hampshire. Before I started this Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) course, I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to delve further into psychotherapy or counselling, but when I heard first hand reports of how SFH gave people with high anxiety, the ability to not only manage but thrive, I had to explore it further. I highly recommend training in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy through CPHT Brighton. All the senior lecturers are very skilled, knowledgeable, supportive, and encouraging. The course structure also has a clever way of layering your learning so when you come to the end you realise how much you have learnt and how many practical skills and techniques you have picked up along the way too. I have worked in mental health services for many years and learned different therapeutic techniques etc but hadn’t ever come across something that works so well for people with so many different presenting difficulties before this. I knew I wanted to learn about hypnotherapy but I didn't know where to start. Relatable? I came across CPHT from a Google search and was won over by the glowing reviews. And now I get it. These people are pros. Looking back, I can see how clever the course structure is to get you from zero to fully qualified in ten months. The lecturers show up with enthusiasm like it's their first class, but with wisdom and experience like it's their 1000th. They really care about your progress. Meeting a community of fellow students and practitioners was the cherry on the cake. It's been hard work but so rewarding. If I had to go back and choose, I'd do it again.

After spending months researching hypnotherapy courses I settled on CPHT and I am so pleased I did. The course content is up to date, practical, easy to understand and delivered in a way which makes it exciting to learn. The blend of practical activities and theory is done so well that the weekends fly by and leave you feeling ready to put into practice. The course is structured in a way that by the end of the 10 months you have a practice ready to go having 200 clinical client hours under your belt leaving you confident to start your new career.

All that said, the best thing about this course is by FAR the people. Firstly the other students, like minded individuals looking to support one and another and make a difference to help people, I can say I have made friends for life.... and secondly the tutors Lynda, Jess and Jenny. Words I would use to describe these ladies.... supportive, knowledgeable, patient, kind, relevant and inspiring!
